Mirra Chair

The Mirra Chair can be seen as the chair that went past Aeron; the next step in the ergonomic chair industry. It uses some of the same design features, including a porous seat and seat back, but it adds functionality and takes off some of the rough edges.

What's To Like:
This is a very comfortable chair, brimming with advanced ergonomic engineering, adjustments, and surfaces. And it retains much of the iconic look of the Aeron Chair, making it a competitor in terms of style as well. Chairs, chairs, stop fighting! There's room enough for both of you.

What's Not to Like:
The downside of trying to advance the Aeron Chair is that sometimes you can be derivative. The shape of the Mirra Chair isn't particularly unique, and for some buyers that's a problem. If you're a bigger person, this chair might also not be for you - it's slightly on the small side.

The Bottom Line:
The Mirra Chair is great for the office, great for medium to small statures, and great for the health and happiness of your body. It's not an earth shaker, but it's a money maker.

The Mirra Chair is a study in elegance, adaptation, and comfort. Designed by Herman Miller in conjuction with German design team Studio 7.5 in 2003, Mirra was conceived as a paradox: a chair that was more supportive but used less material, that was high-value but low cost, that had fewer manual adjustments but a better, more intuitive fit for the user. On all fronts, Mirra is a smashing success.

The marriage of excellent, high-tech engineering with a refined and elegant aesthetic design sensibility is realized in the Mirra chair, and for that the furniture world has taken note. Winner of multiple awards and reams of critical praise, the Mirra is one of the most popular and critically adored chair for the last decade, and a real boon to any office, worker, or user.

Mirra is first and foremost a beautiful chair. Fine-tuned, built and designed by the teams at Herman Miller and Studio 7.5, it embodies the practical but fashion-forward aesthetic that company and studio are known for. The seat creates a comfort pocket at the rear and falls off at the front in a "waterfall" contour. This makes it not only more comfortable, but also actually healthier. The contouring of the chair increases your circulation, which of course increases bloodflow to your brain. That makes your thoughts clearer, your mind clearer, and your senses more alert.

That in turn leads to increased productivity and improved mood. Not bad for the seat of your chair. The arms arc up from the base of the chair, and the armrests at the top are contoured to fit and support the forearm. The back of the chair is contoured as well, and like the seat has been designed to allow the maximum amount of air possible to pass through the Mirra. That makes you cooler, more comfortable, better able to focus. It's not for nothing the Mirra chair won the GOODDESIGN award from the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Design and Architecture!

Constructed of elastic, pliable materials, the Mirra chair is also the most adaptable chair out there. It fits any size like a glove, intuitively molding itself to support and comfort your contours, weight distribution, and height. Mirra comes equipped with the patented PostureFit back support system made famous by the Aeron chair, as well as AirWeave seating and the TriFlex back support system. Mirra should easily fit any user without having to be manually adjusted, but of course, Herman Miller has made sure his chair is as adaptable as possible.

Users can adjust the seat height, seat depth, tilt tension, tilt limiter, forward tilt, arm height, arm width, arm angle, and lumbar support. There aren't any chairs out there that will fit you better than the Mirra. In addition, there are few chairs out there that you can more easily make your own. At SmartOffice.net, when you use the Smart Designer feature to buy and customize your chair, the possibilities for personalization are enormous. There are over 250,000 variations of the Mirra Chair available from at SmartOffice.net. It fits you like a glove when it comes to engineering and literal fit, but will also easily conform to your personal taste.

Elegant, adaptive, comfortable. The alchemists at Herman Miller and Studio 7.5 has mixed those striking features and more to make one of the best chairs yet produced. Mirra represents the axis of good design and good science, ergonomics and aesthetics coming together in one fine chair. Buy Mirra today.

Love this chair.  I suffer from degenerative disk disease, and needed a chair I can sit at for longer periods of time.  I am so glad I got the forward-tilt add-on with this chair, as I use it all the time.  It helps keep my spine aligned better than the standard flat seat.

Best money I ever spent

I had a Mirra chair at the office and never noticed how comfortable and ergonomic it was until I started working from home. My chair (just a regular office chair) at home would hurt my back and I wasn't able to sit in for long which meant I could only work for short periods of time before I needed to lay down and ease the back pain. I decided to invest in the Mirra after returning to the office for a one day meeting and noticed how at the end of the day, I felt like I hadn't been sitting down for 8 hours straight - my back did not hurt one bit. This is easily the best money I have ever spent. It is worth every penny.

I have bought the usual desk chairs at the local shops but I plan to work from home in the future and wanted a comfortable chair if I was to be spending hours at the computer. This chairs rolls so much better - it is amazing that a simple thing like that is way better with this design. The lumbar support is so comfortable. I love the citron green color I rewarded myself with. This is like the Cadillac of chairs and yes, worth the extra expense. When ordering the chair, I didn't know what features I really needed [...] I felt comfortable then ordering the chair plus they offered my money back if I wasn't totally happy. I paid to have it put together [...]

This is an excellent office chair.  I can sit in it for hours at the computer without getting any aches.  The construction is high-quality and is very sturdy.  The armrests have some play to them but seem to be well connected (perhaps this was my fault when assembling the chair).  I would recommend this chair to anyone looking for a good office or task chair.

I have been using my Mirra chair for 4 months now. I work from home and I sit in this chair for at least 8 hours a day. I don't get back pain anymore, I don't squirm around looking for a comfy position to sit in in this chair.

The back is hard and yet also slightly flexi (very comfy) and the seat is just lovely, the mesh supports very well and yet I never get the dreaded dead butt feeling..it is perfect the way it takes the pressure off and yet is very firm.

Love that I can adjust the depth of the seat as well so I have never had the Mirra digging into the back of my legs...and all the arm adjustments.

If I had to describe this chair in one word: Perfect!

PROS: Attractive Design, Sturdy, Ergonomic, Comfortable, Came fully assembled

I'm not a small girl by any stretch of the imagination and my job requires that I'm sitting at a computer for at least 7 hours a day, sometimes more.

This has got to be one of the most comfortable chairs I've ever used. My previous chair is (well was) the Leap task chair. It seems to work for most people that are of normal size and don't have posture or back issues. Tilt limiter is worth the extra money and the extra lumbar support is very nice too. :)
